Foreign Carriers & A/C Serving LAS; Future Plans?

Sat Nov 19, 2005 5:28 am

With Las Vegas going through enormous growth, what does the future hold for int'l service by foreign carriers?

What foreign carriers currently serve LAS, and with what a/c?

BMI A330
Virgin 744
JAL 744 via LAX (non-stop sometimes)
Mexicana A320/19
AeroMexico MD80/73G
Aviacsa 732
Multiple charters from Europe.....

I know I missed some, but those are off the top of my head.

Condor operates seasonal 763 2x weekly
My Travel operates 2x weekly A333
Philippine is 3x weekly A343
Air Canada A319,320,321 daily
West Jet 737 (not sure of their schedule)
Belair operates 2x weekly seasonal 763

DIA- To answer your question, there are many foreign carriers planning LAS service. In fact, Air China had announced 744 service from Beijing that was to have already started, but tougher US visa requirements caused a delay. Other airlines that expressed an intent to come to LAS (Korean Air & China Southern) have expressed the same concern. Until these visa requirements are adjusted, new international air service into the U.S. is going to be impeded not only at LAS, but other cities too.

Isn't this a triangular route? It goes from NRT-LAS but on the way back, it stops in LAX to go back.

NRT-LAS-LAX-NRT?

With the new pending open skies agreement I can just about guarantee that the new US/HP will be sending a few A350s all over the place!
