Visiting Cockpit In Flight Question

Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:22 pm

I have a question about visiting the cockpit in-flight. Is it illegal and if the airline found out the pilot did it would the pilot get in trouble?

Reason I ask is because on my recent flight across the Atlantic I was allowed by the pilot to visit the cockpit while in-flight and I want to talk about it in my trip report but my dad thinks that if someone from the airline I flew was checking the trip-report section for feed back and found out about the visit in my trip-report the pilot could get in trouble.

What do you think?

I think if he allowes you to get in and if he allowed you to take that picture, it's allright!

Nice pic by the way.

Cheers

Cockpit visits on EVERY US airline is prohibited by law.

No US pilot is dumb enough to allow visits in flight.

For most(if not all) european airlines such matters are entirely at the
captain's discretion, so if he granted permission for your visit and photographs
there's no problem at all!

Oh, ok then thanks!

I guess I might as well say the airline, it was KLM.

Out here,No Visits to the Control cabin [Cockpit] during flight. However post flight on Ground can be considered.
If the Pilot allowed you to visit & click a pic, without objecting to it.Its should be fine.Even so If you need to, Avoid providing certain details that could identfy the flight less you feel that the Pilot could get into a problem.

No inflight visit's to the flightdeck are permitted on any N registered aircraft or on any aircraft within US airspace.

Ground flightdeck visits are permitted as follows:

1 - The Captains agrees to this
2 - Is present for the duration
3 - Full security checks MUST be completed post visit.
