The best US airline is far and away Delta Air Lines.
They have far and away the best coverage on the east coast, with USAirways coming a close second on both counts.

The best airport is Atlanta William B Hartsfield International - well organized, easy to get around, and it's sort of my home airport! I reckon I went thru there about twenty-five times last year... of course on Delta.

The second best airport is Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport. Smaller than Atlanta, yet just as spacious and easy to get around.

No contest, American. Best service, aircraft, and all around destinations. American Airlines is the only airline that deserves to get the slots to China. Delta and UPS can start crying now!!!

Airport: Definitely Pittsburgh. Easy connections

I agree with Cincinnati, very open and easy to get around. For atmosphere I have to go with Las Vegas or maybe Tampa.

Airline would be Delta or Continental.

I would have to say that Delta is the best airline. I also like ATL and CVG airports. Flying out of LEX, I usually have to go to one or the other. They are both easy to get around in, especially CVG. Although I do love my home airport, Blue Grass Airport in Lexington(LEX)!

Newark International Airport rocks: lots of good spotting of international flights, easy access to Manhattan, New Jersey, and Philadelphia flyers who avoid US Airways. EWR also has really comfy seats and a nice international arrivals terminal. It's not a Third World Airport like JFK, as a matter of fact it's the American airport most like the ones in Europe: well planned, busy but organized.

Can't say much for the parking/congestion situation though. There is reliable mass transit access, which is something that most US airports don't have at all.

It's also the hub for Continental. 'Nuff said.

UAL of course....need I say more? But Delta runs a very very close second. However if UAL doesn't get thier act together SOON I will be changing my name to DAL-Fan!

I love Atlanta-Hartsfield. Modern, efficient, great transportation between Terminals!

CALPilot

Mon May 22, 2000 2:33 am

Hey CALPilot, do you or anyone else here know the progress of Continental's negotiations to terminate the alliance with Northwest and compel NW to sell its stake in CAL? I know it's off-topic, but if you want to relate the matter to Continental's position as the #1 US airline (and how the continued shareholding by NW will drain CO like a leech), please feel free. Also feel free to recall that in 10 years the NW delegation on the CO board of directors will have voting rights...

So what's the status of the attempt to sever the ties that bind between CO and NW? I hope we see some resolution soon.

Thanks!

AA is the best US airline and they have made such a good comeback that they deserve the china slots and they have more room in coach then any other airline and their service is ten times better now than it was in 1998, they have "swivel" first class seats which are perfect for a "mini meeting" and they are definately the best,Atlanta is definately the best airport, it is a spotter friendly airport and is extremely easy to connect.

American is the best airline. They have great service and they have more class in my opinion.
LAX is the absolute best airport. I like the many varieties they have.

Running up closely for best airlines would be Continental.

2nd for best airport would be SFO.

American is the best airline - I fly some 100,000 miles a year with them, and never have anything but excellent service and friendly crews.

The best US airport is Honolulu - it has a great atmosphere and is well designed for its locale.

For best US airline it is a toss up between Delta and Continental (I've never flown on American). Both Delta and Continental have great service, great planes, and good in flight entertainment. Delta should get the China routes in my opinion. For best US airport my vote is MCO(Orlando Intl.) or ATL becaues I love those people movers.

Well of course I'm going to say Delta and ATL. But that would not have always been my answer. I think Delta lost the plot two or three years ago but they seem to be shaping up finally. One of the things that I really like about Hartsfield is the rapid transit access right into the terminal. There's a station only 1/4 mile from my house...this way I don't worry about parking at the airport and then lugging my stuff all the way to the terminal...just park at the MARTA station and ride the train through town all the way into the terminal...great!

My name says it all, though I am discouraged by delta's adjustments east (applying for China only from their eastern hubs seems questionable, all politics).

PDX is easy to get around and homey, and it will soon have light rail for easy access. My second choices...John Wayne (I like the atmosphere even though service is limited) and Alaska airlines.

TWA And Mco!

Mon May 22, 2000 12:59 pm

I love TWA! thats simple. I have been to MCO (Orlando-McCoy) twice, and it was always near empty, even at 6:00PM, when in ORD (O'Hare) you would have died by now!

Sorry Delta folks, since I am from midwest, I am not impressed with Delta's flights connection - it has no central hub in US which I usually ended up flying with NW, UA, TWA or AA. I would pick United Airlines as best airline.

However, smile up Delta fans, I picked Atlanta Hartsfield as best airport.

If you don't have to fly a mega-carrier, Midwest Express is the best! In terms of airports, I think the new terminal at Washington National is beautiful and efficient.

Cheers!

Midwest Express

Tue May 23, 2000 6:03 am

Dont forget about Midwest Express with all 2-2 seating in their DC9 and MD80 with convenient nonstop service from Milwaukee. MKE is probably the cleanest, most efficient, pax-friendly airport in the Midwest. Not to mention its size is appealing. There are three separate concourses, moving walkways, large viewing areas, a great spotter location, multiple restaurants etc.etc.etc. Try MIdwest Express if you ever come to Milwaukee.

Best US hub airports:
CVG, PIT and DEN

Best US non-hub airports:
JAX, PDX (when they finish construction there), MCO

Also, really like new JFK Terminal One.
