Horrible story, to be sure. And perhaps the most clearly video-taped crash ever, no?

I am irritated when this crash is brought up when a-netters discuss ditching. The way that unfortunate 767 broke apart does not imply that a well prepared modern jet could not ditch. The Ethiopian 767 touched the water while making a turn, and allegedly while one of the pirates was hitting the pilot with a bottle.

Any crash is very sad. And a crash that is due to deliberate actions is just too awful to contemplate
I've flown thousands of miles and I can tell you it's a lot safer than crossing the street!

A sad crash indeed. May gold bless all those that parished that day.

I think the second plane hitting the WTC on 9/11/2001 was the most clearly video-taped crash ever.
My other home is in the sky inside my Piper Cherokee 180.

Not necessarily, as there are many air show crashes that are well taped, also others like that huuuuuuuuge old aircraft crashing to the ground where you can see it in high detail, and this other STOL aircraft that just took off and pretty much went back down within seconds...

ET-AIZ was a nice aircraft, and had the joy of flying in it a couple of years before its final flight, while it was albino.

Oh yes, and for my peeve, Ethiopian is not spelt right, and Airlines, not Airways goes after the first word Big grin

Anyone know where the pilots are today? Are they still flying? What happened to the hi-jackers, the article states they survived and we identified by the pilots.

Both pilots are still with ET. The captain still flies on the 767/757 and the first officer ,during th crash, is also a captain on the 767/757 at the present time.

R.I.P to all who perished. Horrible needless tragedy.
