Eva Air B747-400

Thu Nov 24, 2005 4:47 am

hey, i have a question, the Boeing 747-400`s from Eva Air have a 8F 16C 396Y
seating configuration, 16C seats is nothing compared to other airlines.
I got this info from the JP airlines fleet book.

So my question is doesnt Eva fly that many business people, because they only have 8F and 16C seats. I´m kinda surprised that this airline concentrates more on the Y passengers is this really like this or what is the reason for this configuration? And im not talking about the Combis im talking about a full passenger config. 747-400 such as B-16402

Is there any changes in the configurations in future?

Here are seat maps: http://www.evaair.com/html/b2c/engli...eva/Corporate_profile/Fleet_facts/

They seem to have three different configurations. Two have 8F/16C as you described, but note that they also have very large premium economy sections. The third has more premium seats (12F/32C)

This Fall they were taking bids on 744 interior reconfiguration.

EVA's Super Business Class is so poor that it really makes no difference to fly it vs. Evergreen Deluxe which IMO is the best bargain across the pacific. If I gotta fly Y, ED is a better way to go.

Just a guess, but I would imagine that they will bring the 744s in line with the new 773ERs, which have a more traditional 3-class layout, including lie-flat beds in first class and an upgraded business class.

Some of the combis are going for freighter conversions as the 773ERs arrive starting next year.

BR's 773ERs do not have First Class. It is, however, in a 3 class config:

A while back I read a post on here and basically it had EVA Air and they had so many different classes on their aircraft.

I have been on EVA Air's Premium Laurel (A332) and Super Business (B74M) recently and Super Business was a joke compared to Premium Laurel. The only interesting thing about it was that First and Super Business shared the upper deck and the single galley up there, resulting - IIRC - in the same food service for F and C. However, Super Business certainly needs an update urgently.
