Eastern Airlines (T3) Saab 2000 Question

Sat Nov 26, 2005 3:04 am

Hey Folks.

Does anyone know who operated Eastern Airlines Saabs before they did?

Given there new route to LCY, does anyone know which route is being axed, or where the extra aircraft is coming from?

Thank you

Eastern are getting 2 new Jetstream 41's to accommodate the new routes. Some of their aircraft are ex BA i think, dont quote me on that one though lol

For what seemed quite a while, Eastern Airways operated a single Saab 2000 (SE-LOX) which was leased from Golden Air and flown by Swedish flightdeck crews, but with T3 cabin crew.

The fleet of S2000's has recently increased to 4 examples, which I think should be enough to be able to add the NCL-LCY service without any loss of services elsewhere.
Like a fine wine, one gets better with age.

Looking at there current timetable...all the Saabs are in use before and after NCL-LCY commences.

I might be wrong, but a quick sniff around a.net confirms my hazy memories. Of the four presently in the fleet...

G-CDKA (sn 2000-006) has previously been with Soder Airlines of Finland (OH-SRC) and Swiss / Crossair (HB-IZC)
G-CDKB (sn 2000-032) arrived this year, ex-Lithuanian airlines LY-SBG
G-CDEA (sn 2000-009) was previously with Swissair (HB-IZF)
G-CDEB (sn 2000-36)was previously with Crossair (HB-IZT).

I'd love to fly in one of them one day, but like my shabby '95 Saab 900 parked up back home in England, they're just a little too pricey for my budget right now.
