UA952 Out Of IAD - Why?

Sat Nov 26, 2005 4:56 am

This might be a very geeky question, but the flight number set 952/953 would by United's logic be a transatlantic flight originating from ORD and possibly continuing on westward within the US. However, starting next year this number will be used on a transatlatic from IAD. This got me a little confused. Does anybody know whether the numbering system has changed?

UA's eastbound Atlantic flights are 900 even flight numbers. Westbound are 900 odd so there is nothing weird about the choice of numbers.
What do I know? I just fly 'em.......

IAD-BRU is UA950
BRU-IAD is UA951

so it's not uncommon!
I do remember that the ORD-DUS-ORD was 952-953 some time ago.
What time is top of descent?

900's are Atlantic flights mostly (sometime point to point within the lower 48 states) and 800's are Pacific and South American routes mostly.

The debate continues... Starwood or Hyatt... which is better
