Sat Nov 26, 2005 7:49 am

Bit of a surprise at PHL. N650US is now in the new livery and arrived this afternoon.

Nice! I saw it on a CRJ in YOW and I really like the new livery.

I like it better on the 767. I still think the livery could have used one more "draft" before being greenlit.

I LOVE this livery on the 76. When I saw it on the other one it looked professional and crisp, fresh new start for US,

I've only seen it on a CRJ, and that was in PIT.

I just wish they had used a different Font for the name "U*S Airways". Something a little Bolder and maybe Italic. A larger version of the Font used for the ID# would have been better.

That would have required an expensive rebranding. Part of the beaty of this whole merger, is they don't have to go through and change everything at every station and on board: from bagtags, to signage, to stationary....etc.

I like the livery as well. I have only seen it on a CRJ, but feel that it does a very good job of representing the airline and country. It is very professional while not being cluttered or excellively ornate. That is a good representation of American business and service.

I saw N650US at AMS yesterday, heres a picture:

I was hoping for a much better photo but the rain on the window and the Malaysia B747-400 wing blocking a good view lessened the chances!

And just for your info:

The infamous N656US left AMS Schiphol yesterday evening as US 9197 to Manchester, UK thereafter back to Philadelphia.

Yep, US 9198 from MAN arrived at PHL at 11:58 PM last night. Nice to see its back in service. Now I have 2 767s in the NC to look for tomorrow at PHL.

Thanks for the heads up EHAM.

N650US operated my flight to MUC yesterday/today, it was quite a surprise to find it painted in new colors at the gate! N656US went to AMS again.

It looks very...Presidential. Whether or not that is a good thing probably depends on who the flyer is, and who is in office at the moment. With a 37% approval rating right now, I'm not sure it's a good thing.  Smile

I do like it, but it seems a bit staid. I have to agree that the typeface is kind of holding it back from being more interesting. It's the serif, I think.

This was one of the 762's they sold and bought back, must really be secure now.

Jetmaster- I'll be flying PHL-MUC in 2 weeks. Did you notice anything new about the interior of N650US? I was wondering if they did anything inside while the outside was being painted.

Are they going to be using 767's on this route from now on? Hope not, love the A330!

I believe this was a swap out and the 333s are scheduled year round PHL-MAN.

the 767 was going to lgw as a substitute for the a330. we had some a330's that were in for maintenance. we have discussed this here before. the a330 is back on the phl-lgw run. i have also heard that they will be removing the flatbed seats on the a330 and replacing them with the envoy seats and economy class will begin at row six . currently the economy class on the a330 begins at row 8. the way it's configured is we have the six flatbed seat at row 1. then envoy seats 2/2/2 from row 2-5 ,galley, then envoy seats at row six and seven. which we sometimes use as a crew rest area when completely empty.

It wasn't even a swap. 656US ferried in to MAN in the evening and left shortly aftewards for PHL. It didn't even get in to PHL until midnight. Also notice the flight number was 9198 indicating it to be a non-revenue flight of some kind (generally 9000 series numbers are used for charters, repositioning moves etc. by many airlines). The normal A333 flight is US 197 and operated normally that morning.

I'm not entirely sure why 656US made the stopover in MAN on the way back. I had heard they stopped there in the event reapirs were nescessary, but then again they did fly to MAN alright.

They've been threatening to do that since they got rid of First Class back at the beginning of 2003. They no doubt will at some point do it, but I wouldn't hold my breath thinking it's imminent.  Wink
