AA Cancun Schedule Update

Sat Nov 26, 2005 6:58 pm

Here is the latest on American Airlines' Cancun schedule following Wilma, which has pretty much been finalized assuming traffic recovers as expected. The major change dates are 15Dec05 and 03Feb06. American Airlines plans on restoring the majority of their pre-Wilma Cancun service.

Boston-Cancun
Suspended indefinitley.

Chicago-Cancun
26Nov05: Suspended
15Dec05: Suspended
03Feb06: 1x 757

Dallas-Cancun
26Nov05: 2x 757
15Dec05: 3x 757
03Feb06: 4x 757 + FrSu 738

Miami-Cancun
26Nov05: 1x 738
15Dec05: 1x 738, 1x 757
03Feb06: 3x 738, 1x 757

New York City/JFK-Cancun
26Nov05: Suspended
15Dec05: Suspended
03Feb06: 1x 757
05Apr06: 1x AB6, WeThSu 757

St. Louis-Cancun
Suspended indefinitley.

In what seems to be a trend, the freed aircraft are being moved to add service to Punta Cana...a 2nd daily to MIA and 3 extra weeklies to JFK. (CUN reductions resulted in the introduction of Spirit's FLL-PUJ service in December and a seasonal BOS-PUJ service on US Airways).

The autorithies expect most of Cancun to be back to normal by Dec. 15th. That's when many airlines will return. Any news about the conditions of the Cancun airport from our friends living there?

If AA was still big in SJC, BNA and RDU, I could have expected them to fly to CUN from those airports.
I don't work for COPA Airlines!

Does the 2 STL-CUN 757's used SAT/SUN become the MCO and DFW 757 we gained in regular schedule from STL?

From what my uncle has recently reported to me, this is how CUN looks like in these days and how it will be for the next 3 months....:

CUN will be back to normal conditions and running in a 100% by March of 2006.

I hope so. Hopefully Virgin Atlantic and/or Icelandair will announce service to CUN in late 2006. That would be good.
