Quite interesting this as it's one of China's few Privately owned carriers. They will order 10 A320s and lease a futher 10 from GECAS. According to their press release they have an LoI at this stage.

By Jianguo Jiang
Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- East Star Airlines Co., a privately owned China-based carrier, said it will buy 10 A320s made by Airbus SAS and lease 10 such planes from General Electric Co.'s unit for a combined 12 billion yuan ($1.49 billion).
The Chinese airline signed an initial agreement with Airbus for the order and a lease agreement with General Electric's aircraft finance unit known as Gecas yesterday, it said in the statement on its Web site today. Gu Wei, a spokesman for Airbus in China, was on a business trip and not immediately available for comment.

It will be interesting to watch the Chinese domestic market develop.

Right now the Chinese Govt is putting massive amounts into transportation infrastructure.

High Speed Train lines between Shanghai, Tianjin and Beijing. Expansion and increased frequency of domestic rail. Development of airports. Relaxing laws to create lower cost air travel. Just exciting.

I would not be surprised that if in the next 10 years we see more destinations opening to international traffic. Image LHR-Xian, or CDG-Urumuqi! China currently has something like 12 domestic carriers (public, private and joint). Hope things don't end up like the U.S. market.
Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!

Didn't the Chinese open up all airports in the hinterland to international flights recently? I cannot remember the context of the decision but I recall reading something of that nature recently.
