Hi MauriceB,

I don't know Bahadir's source but I came across it in a reputable news portal (sorry, Turkish only):

http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/yazarlar/3569331.asp?yazarid=41

Briefly, Pegasus will sign an agreement with Boeing to purchase 12 738 (today-28 Nov. 05). It will be the biggest single order in the history of civil Turkish aviation, besides TK.

Pegasus currently has 12 738s and 2 734s. The new 738s will be delivered starting 2008 and will be used both on domestic and international routes. Some of them will be equipped with winglets and with their arrival Pegasus is planning to start schedules international routes.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

mbg

Gokmen,
never!! Never on DL never on NW. Although their SEA-AMS-IST is attractive and i was considering it; I love United and the mileage I get and trying to qualify to 1K for next year as well..

By the way, I am changing my signature to "Herkes bir gun fenerbahceli olacak"  Smile

I love giving you a hard time about that..

PGT will start international scheduled ops like Istanbul Airlines used to do. (Well they were scheduled charter, but they were scheduled). I think PGT will go for the cheapest fares where Atlas is trying to (succesfully so far) a brand loyalty with good service.

Ahh,good old Pegasus...I am glad that the civil aviaiton in Turkey mada a giant leap forward in the past 2 years and (hopefully)growing strong.

I spend 4 years in that company until I couldnt take anymore of spending 5 days of the week away from home in summers and spending 2 month intervals around african deserts in the winters. If only I knew that more domestic success will bring more time at home in the evenings.Oh well I am happy where I am now.

The only think that I am concerned novadays isl ots of companies are ordering huge amounts of brand new airplanes and we dont have a source that strong to supply enough number of pilots for them.(Bahadar do you remember when we talked about pluses and minuses of having an aviaiton career in Turkey?Thats exactly the time now, after a long time "pilots" became valuable again)

OnurAir is also trying to restore its reputation by retiring the old A300B4s and replacing them with 300Rs,I also like the new paint job and all leather interiors.Hope the best for all of them,I hope they all go strong and no pilot has to make sacrifices anymore to keep their jobs in the future...WING

Nice one Pegasus. I flew a few times on their old 400s. It was quite boring flying 3 to 4 hours to Turkey and have no IFE whatsoever. No radio not even screens for a movie.
They had nice service that days and the F/As were nice too.
This is already 7-8 years ago i reckon but i hope they're still a good charter airline.

There is one problem with airbus. Though their products are engineering marvels they lack passion, completely.

Wing,
that's a nice saying (the one you said to Gokmen)..

I think we will see Onur, Atlas, SunExpress, Pegasus will prevail. I don't see Freebird, Inter and Sky successfully staying in the market any longer. I know for a fact that the ground handling parent of Freebird has been subsidizing the airline for some time.

Wing,
are you on the old equipment or the new equipment that you just got trained in your new airline?

Cheers..

The 320/321s we fly today are supplied by different sources by Airbus contract and the brand new machines will start arriving(with their new paint and interior design) in december. We expect 2 of them this month. And as the 35 airplane order starts filling we will give one of the old ones back in.The configuration of the new airplanes are superb,I read the configurations ordered they are almost like buying a brand new "Mercedes".I am looking forward to fly in them.

Pegasus is a good IT carrier and I am suprised that a larger aircraft type (wide bodied or 757s) have not been aquired. The 738s are small when compared to the 757s and 767s used by other European charter airlines flying into Turkey in Summer.

Bahadir

Thank you for reporting this. That is what I like about this forum, every now and then a local media report is mentioned far before we see it through the usual media and PR machines. What follows is then a good talk about the local aviation scene, which for people such as I, on the other side of the world is quite enjoyable. Appreciate it.

Sometimes sources are not too easy to come by given that Boeing let their customers announce their orders when it suits them.

Please keep us informed

It is great to see new jets in our airports..

Here is the bad news for Pegasus employees  Sad
Pegasus was bought by the second richest group in Turkey (SABANCI HOLDING). They begun to fly domestic with cheap prices. But to stand on this hard competition they reduced the salaries of the employees. The cabin crew were forced to sign their contracts about 40% less salaries  Sad
