Best Airport For Connections

I was wondering what the best airport to make a connecting flight through is. I heard Pittsburgh was good but no one ever really says why. Well let me know your opinions.
Thanx

Well, here are the cities and airlines with which I have made connections in my lifetime:
Las Vegas (America West)
Houston (Continental)
Minneapolis/St. Paul (Northwest)
Columbus (America West)
Phoenix (America West)
Honolulu (Hawaiian/Northwest)

Back when I lived in San Francisco (I moved to the DTW area about 3 years ago), my family avoided flying United from SFO because the fares were higher on transcontinental routes. So we flew America West, and frequently connected through Phoenix, which I found to be a very pleasant airport to make connections. The America West/Southwest terminals are very nice and open. Columbus, though very small, made for easy connections, while Houston and Las Vegas were too crowded. I also felt that Minneapolis, though it can be a small hike between gates, is a nice airport to connect at. Although my flying currently starts and terminates at DTW, I don't feel it is a good place to make the connections because it is far too long of a walk between concourses and the airport is old and in need of repair.

Geographically, St. Louis makes a good connecting point for transcontinental flights, as does Baltimore for up and down the east coast, and San Francisco or San Jose for west-coast flights.

The reason many people, including myself, say PIT is best for connections is that it was designed to require the shortest walks between any gate. It's in the shape of an X with moving walkways throughout. You are never more than a few minutes to your connecting gate. It also has a good baggage handling system which should keep your luggage on the same plane as you. To top it off, there is the "Airmall" which has excellent stores for the longer layovers and which as an added bonus, are required to charge the same as the street prices. It's clean and spacious also. Compare this with, say, Detroit.

Phoenix Sky Harbor Int'l Airport (PHX) is the best airport for connections. Even though it is a large airport, It is very modern, and acessible.

Easy, Atlanta Hartsfield is the best. It is the largest airline hub in the world, and two airlines have hubs here (Delta and AirTran). From Hartsfield, you can reach practically every major city in two stops. They also have a wide variety of international airlines, BA, Austrian, Lufthansa, Air France, and of course Delta. Although it can be a long trek if you get lost at ATL (as I did once), it is the best.

In addition to the outstanding facilities, PIT has nonstop service to nearly every major market in the US, most secondary makets east of the Mississippi and nearly every point in the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states. International services arent much to get excited about with service only to Mexico, Canada, London, Paris and Frankfurt.

It may also be the most beautiful abandoned facility in the Northeast if the UA/US deal goes through. United has had virtually no interest in this market since the early 80's. I cant see them running BWI, IAD, PHL and PIT in a combined operation.
