Emergency At DFW Today (12/2)?

Sat Dec 03, 2005 3:09 pm

Alright today I was passing through DFW about to exit the North Entrance, and an American Eagle ERJ-145 passed over the airplane overpass. Pretty Normal, as you see almost everything going over to the Terminal A C E side of the airport. Suddenly I noticed there were 2 police cars (Looked to be Dallas, not DFW police) with lights flashing quickly chasing the airplane. Seconds later it stopped, but I had to keep going and did not find out what happened. Any Info?

The aircraft had been taxiing faster than the posted speed limit.

No equipment other than police cars?

The last time I recall seeing an airliner escorted by police cars at DFW was the BA Concorde some 10 years ago. It was operating as Flight 1995 – a RTW charter.

Nothing really. The police cars could have been going somewhere and the aircraft was asked to give way.

Interesting...yes the ERJ was going pretty fast  Smile
I would not call it an escort as it was an AA Eagle that looked to be stopped on either side by two police cars, which also leads me to believe that they were not going somewhere... they were stopping the aircraft with lights going crazy. Just the facts...

I was on an ERJ from DFW-CRP and got 'pulled over' on the taxiway just as you describe. In our case, we weren't "screened" properly and had to go back for rescreening. How they figured this out an hour after the fact I have no clue. All I know is that due to knock-on effects it caused us a FIVE HOUR delay (rescreening, weather, crew went illegal... joy). I'm not sure why they'd be meeting 'em upon landing unless one of the passengers became disruptive?
