AA B772ER Withdrawn From Use Today?

Sat Dec 03, 2005 3:31 pm

AAL's B772ER N780AN departed DFW at 2129z 2/12 and flew to Boeing Field using reg as callsign.

Very unusual! Any ideas why? End of service/returned to lessor?

It called on the Boeing Seattle HF freq 5451KHz for a selcal check using its block ID 'BOE426' as callsign although it arrived as 'Boeing N780AN' at BFI.

Due credit Matt Cawby for the info.
