I would appreciate some information on the 'seat back' catering concept introduced by charter airlines in the 70s.
I understand a meal tray, sealed containing a sandwich/salad/snack etc was placed in a lockable tray one for outbound passenger and one for inbound passenger. I think this was introduced as a labour and time saving device for quick turnarounds in Med destinations. I know it led to some holidaymakers eating the returning passengers meal as well!
Which airline/tour op was the first to introduce this concept? did Laker and Court line and Dan Air use this? How long did it continue?
