BA Double Booking

Mon Dec 05, 2005 6:55 am

Hi i booked a flight for 2 passengers (myself and a friend) from birmingham to Glasgow.
All was ok from birmingham to glasgow. when we checked in at in Glasgow for the return flight we were given 2 boarding pass with both my name and surname. when i realised that i went back to the check in desk and she apologized she made a mistake she then again issued me 2 further boarding passes 1 with my 1st and surname and the 2nd with my friends 1st name and my surname.
i again asked i was given the wrong boarding passes. the lady at the check in desk then said well on the booking its the correct name but it is priinting out the wrong surname on one of the boarding pass. after talking with her manager. she manage to sort it out. However i was told that there are 2 different bookings for the same flights and name, i just made one booking. BA then mentioned that the www i booked thru (Being lastminute.com) have 2 reservations under my name with 28 minutes difference in the both booking.
i contacted Lastminute.com and they said they can see 2 booking and there is nothing they can do. BA says there is nothing they can do.
What are my options?
Try and do a chargeback on my credit card?
i allready complained to BA and Lastminute.com and they keep saying i made the booking twoce so thats my fault.

You should persist with Lastminute for any refund as it would seem to be a fault at Lastminute's end.

If it was booked on BA.com and each booking being identical and just 28 minutes apart, I would happily send that down to our refunds teams authorising a refund 'due fooked up website.' BA will have no power over what Lastminute do with their bookings.

Even though, it should not be hard for Lastminute to get the ball rolling. All they need to do is submit your unused booking to refunds (even Lastminute will know how to do this) and although they won't be able to give assurances immediately, the reality is that BA Refund's will authorise Lastminute to give you back the money on your unused booking.

I'm surprised that you arrived at BHX with 2 live bookings. The dupes system is usually pretty good at weeding out these sorts of bookings before you travel and cancelling out space that you are holding twice on the same flight - which causes a huge headache when several different people called John Smith have their bookings on the same flight cancelled. Anyway, the dupes system should cancel out one of the bookings which alerts the travel agent who can then (a) see that a dupe booking has been made on their own website and initiate refund and cancellation or (b) phone BA and ask where this dupe booking is supposed to be.

If your bookings were 2 days apart or booked on different websites, then you would have a minor problem. But 28 minutes apart and both on Lastminute.com should really be a formality. Just tell them to submit your booking for refund consideration to BA and problem will be sorted.

Complain to your credit card company that lastminute.com has taken your money twice. It will then be their problem to sort out and lastminute will have to prove that you made two bookings. Before doing this be absolutely sure that you didn't make the mistake yourself - if you did their systems will no doubt be able to prove it.

BA gave me a print out and the 2 ticket numbers are simultaneous

Even after i made my booking i didn't receive confirmation via e-mail so i called lastminute 3 days later just to confirm the booking and they forward me an e-mail of the booking.

Do you have two different PNR's, or are have both e-tickets been issued in the same PNR?

If the latter, then something has messed up. It does happen from time to time, and it will always be the booking agent's fault.
