A320s For Uni Air

Mon Dec 05, 2005 8:21 am

Referring to the last issue of Air&Cosmos , Eva Air is in talk with Airbus for 12 A320s , but not for themselves , but for their affiliate , Uni Air , to replace MDs.

I have read that Eva was in talks with both Airbus and Boeing for Uni Air's MD-90 replacement. Have they decided to opt for the A320 family? If so, why?

That's right. Though don't forget that EVA have stated they are still in negotiations with both manufacturers for this order. This is in addition to some Q400s and 10 772Fs.

I think whoever get's this order will be the manufacturer that can also provide the best solution as to what they do with 13 MD-90's. As we've seen in another thread a Taiwanese Leasing Co is already scrapping them! With such a poor residual value for the MD-90's and EVA about to launch a Capital raising for the funds for the orders it will be interesting to see the mix of what they buy.
