LH's B744 Fleet Down To 29?

Wed Dec 07, 2005 12:07 am

Hi,

just noticed on LH's website that the number of B744s has gone down from 30 to 29. Does anybody know whether this is just a seasonal withdrawal from the active fleet or whether one airframe has been sold ? And of course the registration of the aircraft involved...

Thanks for any infos.

D-ABTE "Sachsen-Anhalt" is stored in Cambridge as far as I know. Reactivation: Summer-timetable 2006, that means end of March 2006.

Cambridge? Why is that? Cheaper parking fees than in Germany or why?

Anyway, thats interesting. The first time LH temporarily parks a 744 for more than just a few weeks (if ever) as much as I know.

hey, the LH long haul fleet has been used to very hard this summer season, because of that reason the new Business Class product could not be installed on most of the 747-400`s, during the winter the fleet usage calm`s down.
So in this case LH does not need 1 or 2 744`s + during the time their out of service the new Business class product can be installed.

The home of Marshall Aerospace. Good time of year for a D check.
Have they been added to the long list of facilities doing the zone C mod too?

More probable case is:

The new IFE was supposed to be installed in all the 744s. As there is a stop to this due to severe quality problems by Rockwell Collins the original plan of installing it step by step in the airplanes was dropped and instead one airplane was taken out of service to save a lot of money.
The best airplane is the one you fly

Worse than the A340 IFE situation?
