AI Recalling Retired Pilots.

Wed Dec 07, 2005 3:25 am

The DGCA in India has raised the retirement age of pilots in India to 65 from 60 to overcome the severe shortage of qualified pilots.

AI has started recalling pilots who have retired recently and even those who had retired 2-3 years back. My father, who retired in in 2002 has received an offer asking him to join. He has declined this offer but a lot of his colleagues have decided to join.

They will have to appear for all the DGCA exams and requalify for the B747-400s and renew their licenses.
An airplane might disappoint any pilot but it'll never surprise a good one.
