Why were you ask like a dumb question? The flight might be delay due weather from other country! How could we tell this plane? So what!   I have heard plane over my house at 3AM many times that the airlines don't have schedule arrival around 3AM. Some planes are late! OK?

Big777jet,

Looking at your info, you're obviously new to this place...

Firstly, I would just like to clear a couple of things up;"NO questions are dumb questions! We are all here to give & take info, and at one point in time we will all be enlightened by someone else's answer. I dont think that daddy1 asked a dumb question. Quite a reasonable one in fact.

Secondly just 'cos you hear more planes at 3am in the US, doesn't mean to say that we will too!? Right?

BTW daddy1 I always knew that the "curfew" times @ LHR were 11pm-6am.
The takeoffs are strict but the landings are more lax, for obvious reasons. Maybe the landing times are different from the takeoff times, not sure? As I myself flew in @ 05:40 the other day

I have to admit though, when I worked opposite LHR for a while I still heard a few planes takeoff after 11pm, and on 1 or 2 ocassions remember concorde taking off pretty late too. Hope that answers/helps your question.

I would agree with Virgin744. Here in airliners, net, all of us share the same passion for aviation...
Big777jet you should not be so cynical, because in order for somebody to be cynical he/she must be either very smart, or very ignorant (mot to use some other words) But if somebody is indeed very smart, he/she would never be cynical.
Daddy1, I think you should consider yourself lucky that you live in London. It is one of my favourite cities, and LHR one of the best airports in the world.
Check http://www.baa.co.uk/domino/baa/baanet.nsf/vwLookupByTypeFrame/Heathrow+Flight+Arrivals
for everyday arrivals at LHR. I would suggest that you visit this site at about 10 pm, and you can see which flights have a delay.

I agree with both Agrodemm and Virgin744.

I landed at LHW at 5:40 from a flight from Hong Kong CLK, Virgin A340-300 flight VS201.
I had never seen heathrow airport so empty!
Secondly, who has been on the fairly new heathro express?

I normally use the Piccadilly Line, since I am travelling light, and most of the times, I try to be in the airport ahead of time. But when in a harry, I would reccomend the Heathrow express. It is more expensive (double price ) but it takes 15 minutes from Term (1-2-3) to Paddington (about 10 more from term 4)

P.S. I am Greek getting my masters in USA. and while ad I visited the UK recently, (I ve been in UK several times) and I made the mistake to ask in a pub for French Fries. You can imagine the reply "You mean Chips.."
Cheers.....

Heya !
hehe i live in hong kong and im 15, im half chinese half english, cool eh? hehe
i have been to england many times and i love it there, for hlidays only of course.
I found it sooooo inconvienient getting to the heathrow excpress in the heathrow terminal. And confusion with the ticketing, My dad put his visaa card in the machine and he spent the 12 pounds on a ticket that never came out! HE asked for money back at the counter and they said "were not opened yet" so we just had to get a ticket on the train....

I think the tube is cool in its "own" way and i like it, but compare it to hong kongs MTR (mass Transit Railway) the MTR is alot better, smoother, modern......wait sorry this is a completely different subject!!!

ne ways my point is....i dont have one!

Agrodemm,

Thanks for your thought, I would agree London is a great place to be & the 'tube' as we call it is probably the best bet if you want to save money!

Airbus_a340,

I landed in HK a few weeks back & took the coach into Kowloon, then regretted it & wished I got the train instead, 23mins isn't bad at all compared to 1hr on the coach!

From the LHR slot listings this summer the last departure fo the day is scheduled at 2215, and the last arrival is scheduled to be 2250. The first scheduled departure of the day is at 0525, and the first scheduled arrival is at 0355. In fact there are at least 30-40 scheduled movements every day (maily long-haul arrivals) between 0400 and 0600!!!

With long-haul flights, winds en route can often shorten jorney times considerably, it's not unknown for BA's 747 coming in to LHR from BOS to land at Shannon if it's coming in too early. It's due to land at 0355, but if favurable winds mean it will arrive too early, it's cheaper to land and shut down rather than hold inflight for the airport to open!

OK, Sorry about that! I thought it was the first time the flight passed late midnight. It is not everyday late. Umm, I thought everyone knows about weather delay and arrive late. Seven years ago, my plane was late 5 hours until arrived O'Hare at 1:30am. There is nothing I can do with late schedule. I can't tell who is the airline at 3am or so it is hard to tell who was plane over your house. OK? I'm apologized about saying the first posted. Forgive me!

Thanks..

It is OK Big777Jet. Sometimes we all are over our heads...
And I can understand the frustration caused by inclement weather conditions. (I live in CT this year   and I must say that the weather here is indeed crazy...
Kind Regards
