SQ Ordered 19 777-300ERs?

Sat Dec 10, 2005 1:54 pm

When SQ made the announcement to order the -300ER, they said they would order 18. After about a few months, that number became 19, with no announcements what so ever. Anyone know how or why that happened?

SQ had a standing option for 777s of any kind they chose from a while back, the 18 being part of that conversion. Maybe they exercised 1 more?

Earlier this year, SQ converted one of their last 772ER orders to a 773ER. They still retain their 13 options announced at the time of their 773ER last year.

So, last year SQ had, I believe 25 options on any 777, of which some were converted to orders for 773ER, and the rest were converted to options of 773ER plus more options? Then they converted the remaining 772ER order (was firm?) to a 773ER?

From their website, though the options are listed as 773ER, there is still a notice that any 777 may be ordered as part of the option agreement, at least the website still says that.

My recollection is that the 18 were new orders, not the exercise of options, and that 13 new options were taken (good only for the B777-300ER) at the same time. Only the 19th was the exercise of an earlier option. So SQ still have the 13 B777-300ER options plus perhaps some of the earlier, more general B777 options.

Ikramerica
I must confess, I am not aware of the 25 options. However, here is the information I am using:

http://active.boeing.com/commercial/...tSort=Date&ViewReportF=View+Report

In this list, SQ is shown to have ordered 6 772ERs and 3 773s on May 29, 2001, the same day that they ordered "a" 773ER as well. So SQ either converted a 772ER or 773 order to the 773ER. Since all the 773's ordered are accounted for by the link you provided, the 772ER order is the only one that could have been converted to the 773ER order. In addition, this link shows that SQ included 13 options at the time of their 773ER order in Aug 2004 and the link you provided still shows 13 options. Hence my conclusion.

the fleet website is all confused though, as it lists no options for other 777s like it used to.

Ikramerica I hope the following explains it all for you.

Quoting N60659 (Reply 2):
Earlier this year, SQ converted one of their last 772ER orders to a 773ER. They still retain their 13 options announced at the time of their 773ER last year.

N60659 is correct. SQ converted the final 772ER ordered as part of 6 ordered on 29/05/2001 to a 773ER in the first quarter of this year.

Quoting Zvezda (Reply 4):
My recollection is that the 18 were new orders, not the exercise of options, and that 13 new options were taken (good only for the B777-300ER) at the same time.

That too, is correct. No Options were converted for the 773ER order, it was a new direct order. The 13 Options remain and are for the 773ER model only.

Quoting Ikramerica (Reply 3):
From their website, though the options are listed as 773ER, there is still a notice that any 777 may be ordered as part of the option agreement, at least the website still says that.

The link you provide only lists 13 Options under the 773ER. If you read carefully, previous 772A & 772ER model options were, to quote SQ, (Singapore Airlines has the flexibility to purchase any B777 model) This quote is specifically left out with regards to the 13 773ER Options.

Very difficult to track but that is the status of their options now. I note you joined in May of this year, perhaps This A.net thread from the archive might help clarify things for you too.
