What Happened To AF Pilots Who Overran In Canada?

Sat Dec 10, 2005 8:38 pm

Hello, was just reading about the unfortunate incident in the US involving the SouthWest 737, and it reminded me of the A340 crash landing in Canada a few months ago, and i wondered does anybody know what happened to the pilots involved, i , as i`m sure many others, would hope they are, or will be flying again. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thankyou  Smile

Thought I read somewhere in this forum that the captain won't be flying again because he hurt his back very badly. Very sad if this is true.

I read the same. Also I read that the co-pilot is flying regularly.

Did the back injury of the pilot occur from the incident? If so, was it when he was still in the cockpit or during escape from the a/c after the incident?

As far as I know, the pilot's back problem was caused by the crash, or the jumping from the plane, but he also was just a couple of months from retirement. As a result, he will not fly again.
