BA To Add Second Flight To YUL In Summer 2006!

Mon Dec 12, 2005 2:45 am

Dont know if this has already been discussed, but according to BAA website, British Airways will add a second flight out of Heathrow for Montreal starting June 1st, 2006.

BA45 will operate non-stop from LHR to YUL every mondays, thursdays and saturdays with a B763. The flight will depart LHR at 1600 and arrive in YUL at 1830. The return flight, BA44 departs at 2205 and arrives in LHR at 0950 the next day.

This is all in addition to the daily non-stop service with a B777.

The timetable seems to be set until 30th of September 2006.

Good news for YUL!

Do you know what aircraft type will operate this service??? Bet any money its a 3 class 767, no First cabin. Seems the YUL operation is gaining passenger numbers?

I checked on BA's website and they still don't show this flight on their timetable. Any guesses as to why?

This is what happening.

British Airways is taking one 767-300, and adding an additional 4 weekly flights to Toronto.. in order to now have 3 DAILY flights in the summer peak.

The remainder 3 weekly, will be used to complement the exisiting daily YUL-LHR.. for a total of 10 weekly.

As well, it appears as if BA will be adding frequencies on YVR-LHR for a total of 12-13 weekly flights.

Looks like it's a plus for all the three major canadian airports!

But the schedule of the second flight is so similar to regular daily flight. Could they not have changed the schedule?

I'm pretty sure BA relies heavily on connections for its LHR-YUL runs, therefore it would not be yielding for them if they departed LHR anytime sooner than 16h00, 17h00 hours!

I know AF has a 3 hour gap between it's 2 arrivals into Montreal, but let's not forget CDG-YUL is also an origin-destination market, and is not as heavily dependant on connections as LHR-YUL, methinks!

Maybe FLYYUL can shed some light on this matter!

I have nothing shocking to add Big grin .

Perhaps BA is constrained due to equipment availability, and slot availability.

BA is essentially using one 767-300, to furnish 3 additional weekly flights to YUL and 4 additional weekly flights to YYZ. I assume it's the same plane so the schedule remains far from ideal (especially for YUL given the current BA 94 at 21:35)

BA may not have the flexibility to provide a "better" schedule if you will, due to these items.

So will that mean YYZ will see the 744, 772 and 763 in summer months?

Has BA used the 763 into YYZ much before?

What is the primary BA daily into YUL, a 772?

Not recently, no!

B772 is the standard in YUL all year long. During the Grand Prix weekend you'll get an odd B744, but that's as fancy as it gets!

Just out of curiousity how does BA do on their premium cabins to YUL (throughout the year)? I know that they have removed their F class, as have most airlines serving YUL except for AF.

BA has healthy loads on their daily flight. Not bursting at the seems full, but enough that they don't need to overbook the WT cabin to make up for the lack of WTP and Club bookings. It's a decent route.

As of yet, these flights have not been loaded into the system yet, and nothing's been released by BA so this isn't set in stone yet. As of right this second it's still just the daily flight to YUL, 17 weekly flights to YYZ (same as last year), and 13 weekly flights to YVR (up from 10 last year). So we'll see if this is a late entry.

I won't be surprised if this comes to fruition but I'll remain reserved until I get an internal bulletin.
