What's To Happen With Delta JFK-FLL?

Wed Dec 14, 2005 2:34 am

Once Song is gone, will Delta keep the two-class 757s on JFK-FLL? Or maybe they will go back to operating a mixed variety on FLL/PBI to JFK/FLL? A few years ago they were still operating a 767-300 on LGA-FLL...

Any thoughts?

While I don't know what's going to happen with that route, I truely hope they can use nothing smaller than a 738 and still have the route be profitable.

from what I've seen the route will remain 757.
Some see lines, others see between the lines.

I can't imagine a two-class 757 with that many first-class seats doing well on NYC-FLL...Especially compared with B6 and CO's multiple 757-300s on EWR-FLL.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to fill an F cabin between NYC and South Florida, though it is admitedly much easier from LaGuardia and Newark than JFK. And I'm not talking about free upgrades, either. There is a healthy amount of paid F-class on MIA/FLL/PBI-NYC, both business and leisure. Obviously, though, MIA gets the bulk of it.

DL will likely keep a few two-class 757s from JFK/LGA-Florida, though their operations will likely look like they did a few years ago, a mix of 737s, 757s, and MD-80s with maybe a 767 here or there. Hopefully no RJs though with DL it wouldn't surprise me.

They already fly MIA-JFK with a CRJ-700.

I believe we will find out in about two weeks. Presently DL is working on their Spring Break schedule which will be effective Feb. 16.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.
