Varig To Bring Six Planes Back Into Service

Thu Dec 15, 2005 3:34 am

FRB-Par's (Ruben Berta Foundation - Participations, RG + VarigLog + VEM) new shareholder, Gropo Docas, led by Mr. Tanure of Jornal do Brasil, is implementing their plan for RG which includes bringing back into service six aircraft initially, 5X B737s and one B777 by the end of the month. All were out of service due to no funds to complete maintenance.

They also got the courts to look once again favorably to their case regarding the R$4 Billion lawsuit RG has against the government, which could cut almost all of RG's debt with the government - close to half of the total debt.

Cheers

Edit: PP-VRA is coming back!! Big grin

Is it true that Los Angeles will be an all 777 operation by Q4 2006?

I highly doubt it. They only have eight T7s, of which only four are ERs. Better send them to JFK and FRA IMO (due to more competition), and keep LAX with the MD-11ERs.

Unless RG gets another 777...

Let's see if Docas will deposit such money. I personally doubt it. And don't forget that (i) the deal is not completed and (ii) TAP has not answered if will exercise its option to keep VEM and VarigLog. Tanure's proposal is completely out of the scope of the call back contract.
Better one flying than two grounded

Aerus (pension fund) rejected the proposal because the FRB would still remain in control. Unless they pull something out, looks like the end....

 Sad

Fala PP-VRA!

Edit: PP-VRA is coming back!!

In fact PP-VRA is back to service since Nov, 30 as PP-VRB is on the ground due to a C Check and VEM (Varig MHRO) assigned one engine to PP-VRA. Probably PP-VRB will be also back to service by the end of this month.

PP-VRA (Varig's flagship) is nowadays on GIG-FRA.

It's Varig intention. PP-VRA first fly after some months at MHRO facility was GIG-GRU-LAX. Varig need to return to lessors 4 MD11 during 2006 and they is expecting 1 772 (PP-VRH). In fact PP-VRH is the last 777 on deserts. Probably they will use PP-VRC, PP-VRD and PP-VRH on LAX route.
Kahala777 note that PP-VRC virtually in very bad conditions is nowadays in a very good conditions as per some pax that travel on their F class. Varig maintenance is really amazing, they always exceed their limitations. This bird nowadays keep ALL their PTV's in good order, very different from a year ago.
VRC is also used on GRU-MIA and GRU-JFK nowadays.

PP-VRA lost one engine during a GIG-FRA flight on the end of september and since this is on very good conditions at Varig MHRO facility at GIG. It come back to service this month due to PP-VRB C check.

I wish to see more RG planes in service, they are profitable with the fleet flying.

I repeat the inside i received, in january probably they will improve their international services.

I agree with you but they are facing lack of aircraft and they need 2 M11 to fly GRU-MIA 13 times per week. Probably they will be back after feb/06 to MAD (if Varig survives!)

Ya it's the end for Docas's proposal... RG's bankrupcy judge did not approve the deal.

How are you Felipe? Enjoying the nice summer? It's getting  cold  up here!

VEM is a top-notch company. If RG doesn't survive, I hope at least they do.

The problem is that RG is their main customer (60%). If they made a bid for the DL maintenance may be them keep with service during a long time, but they do not keep conditions to take care of 2 DL widebodies and at the same time of RG planes, even with their facility in Porto Alegre.

Yesssss! I just travel back from MIA last weekend, but the weather in MIA was okay (about 23o Celsius). I'll probably be in ATL on march/05, i will let you know!

Seems a lot of trouble to RG today.... but at least FRB is out !!!!!

Indeed, the CH11 judge first outright rejected the petition to leave the CH11 proceeings and then gave the FRB the boot*.

In the end at least something positive came out of today.

I like that Judge.
