Runway 14-32 To Be Shortened At IND

Fri Dec 16, 2005 1:31 am

I for the life of me don't understand why this would be done but they are apparently going to shorten runway 14-32 at IND by 324 feet. It will be shortened on the 32 end. This is the already short crosswind runway. There has to be a reason for it but I can't imagine what. This is part of bid package T-10 on http://www.newindairport.com/rfps.shtm . You can view 14-32 here...

Part of the bid package involves the cargo apron rehabilitation. Could this be part of a system that will provide a taxiway to the current tarmac from Fedex so they can use the old terminal space as ramp space after the new facility opens? I can't think of any other reason why they would shorten this runway.
Indy = Indianapolis and not Independence Air
