OK, I'll be a party pooper here
I would say British Airways mainly for the high level of professionalism, their on-time record is great, flights more often than not arrive ahead of schedule (at least to US destinations that I've tracked, and compare to Lufthansa, each time I've been at SFO i've noticed the flight to FRA delayed by at least 5 hours). And whine all you want about the PTV's, BA is putting them on all their aircraft, along with the new ergonomically designed seats, just basic entire interior renewal. Go to http://www.british-airways.com
and click on 21st Century Travel, it'll show you what they are up to
I like BA's schemes, in my opinion I don't like the cheatlines of Singapore, and although Virgin's new scheme is stylish, the purple just ruins the whole thing for me.
And the food... ah yes the food, although the airline does have some say in it, really it all comes down to the catering facility at the departure airport. I've only had one bad experience, and that was with United, so even though they have a chokehold on my local airport, SFO, I hope never to fly them or any Star Alliance member (I hate SAS with a passion as well), as I believe that an alliance is only as good as it's worst member. Just my biased
Head in the clouds... yet feet planted firmly on the ground.
