Qantas History At LAX (question)

Sat Dec 17, 2005 3:30 am

Does anyone know the date that Qantas first began service to Los Angeles? I think it might have been in the early '80s, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

Not very helpful, but in June 1984 QF was still operating SFO - SYD. I know I flew them then.

I can vaguely remember them back until 1982. I believe at the time it was B747 service that routed via Honolulu.

FWIW they're in the 8/80 North American OAG flying LAX-HNL, and they're not in the 6/80.

QF operated its first service to the USA (SFO) in 1954 using the super connie.

Not sure when the first flight to LAX operated??

Started in the summer of 1980. Less than a month after they began, I remember that one Qantas pilot attempted to land at Hughes Aircraft instead of LAX.

Yes, I do remember that myself. Cant say what year for sure, however it was indeed in the early 80s I would say.
