It was broken up years ago. The Dick Smart Comet sat on a deserted part of the ramp for years, on the old Illinois ANG side of the airport. But when the airport planned expansion, they gave the owners an ultimatum to move the Comet off the property. There was attempt to dismantle it and move it off the airport in 1995, but time ran out as well as funding to do it. It was sold to a salvage company and was gone by 1996.

The Museum of Flight in Seattle, has volubteeres working on a Mexicana Comet 4C up at PAE in Everett. It was painted in former BOAC colours by the Everett Community College, but never flew for BOAC, it flew for Mexicana under the reg of XA-NAS, a sistership to the Dick Smart Comet. The restoration is headed up by retired Boeing engineer, Robert Hood. Progress is slow at the moment because it is all done by volunteers.
