Any New Orders To Be Made In 2005?

Tue Dec 20, 2005 12:10 am

Ok, it's 12 days till the end of 2005. Are there any more new order announcements that are to be made over the next 12 days (I know CR Airways is supposed to announce tomorrow)?

Also who will be firming up their deals in the next 12 days so that they're counted in the OEM total orders for 2005?

China Southern just recieved shareholder approval for its 10 787s and 10 A330s.

They might be firm before the end of '05.

I was really looking foward to an EI order on the A350/787 this year but it looks like it will be in 2006.

They also approved Xiamen's 3 787s at that meeting too.

ATI is reporting that Airbus has asked Easyjet to wait to announce an option conversion until after the new year so they can be counted in next years race.

"The source says Airbus has conceded that its orders will fall short of
Boeing's figure in 2005 and wants to move any remaining announcements
into next year in order to improve its chance of outselling its rival in
2006. The same source says that, after a detailed analysis, Easyjet has
now ruled out taking A321s and is instead likely to firm up 25 options
for A319s in the short term followed by another 35 later next year."

No need to firm it up, if true, any time soon. They are still taking their current 737NGs on order.

That would be desperate. And by shifting an order to another year to "win" that year you still don't win anything in the long run. It doesn't change the size of the backlog.

I guess Airbus is hoping to get a jump start on next year as they lost the 2005 order battle with Boeing already.
