Thanks for the link NYC777.

While it is interesting to note that 9W is evaluating the 747-8, the last paragraph on the article caught my eye:

"Commenting on the future plans of the airline, Mr Goyal said that Jet was working towards being counted among the five top global airlines in the next five years".

That would be fantastic for 9W to be on par with EK, etc.

Interesting. I know Jet plans on service to the U.S. with 772 and/or 773 a/c...so for the move up to a 748 is very positive.

They have a long way to go; basing my knowledge off in-flight service from the recent Airways Magazine article about Jet's typical service. (The trip discussed occured on an A343 BTW)

Considering how fast IT plans to expand with their Paris Air Show purchases for A380s, A350s, and A320s, perhaps 9W is just hoping to keep up. Big grin

I've had nothing but stellar experiences aboard Jet - probably about 12 domestic flights while in India on business. I felt they were clearly superior in service to any US domestic airline - on par with some of the better Asian airlines. I've not flown on their international segments, however.

Since they are considering a joint frieght venture, perhaps they will order the freighter version as well as the pax.

Interesting development. The 773ER has the range to make it non-stop to the United States. American and Continental make the trip with 772ER which has somewhat shorter range.

It is interesting also that this would mark their entry into the 747 and larger market and they are looking at the smaller of the two choices. But maybe they are also looking at the A380...
