This is actually quite interesting news. I knew that some countries in the Balkans were considering joining the openskies..but all at once! wow...this is quite a feat of diplomacy.
Just imagine the bonanza of new routes..finally! Can't wait.

The frenzy feeding is just about to start checkeredflag . No doubt about it ! At the fore front all Eastern and Western LCC are finally given access to countries that are not yet EU members! Over all Great news for low budget travelers of Eastern Europe! Bad news for bus operators though  box

As was expected, this will likely give the final blow to our darling JAT as we will likely welcome a number of LCC's into BEG and INI.

Not necessarily. I personally see EU’s Open Sky Agreement as a real opportunity for small full-service airlines to access UNRESTRICTED the whole European market. An example that comes to mind is Malev Hungarian who flew Ireland and Finland to Greece this past summer http://www.malev.hu/BP/ENG/I_NEWS_ENG/2005-0705-1718-53HYHT.asp

Moreover there is an US-Europe Open Sky Agreement being negotiated as we speak that would likely allow unrestricted flights from anywhere in Europe to anywhere in US. Sofia-Nis is too close for a flight. Even Sofia-Beograd is too close for a scheduled flight.
