AA ORD-NGO-ORD, Why Such A Short Run?

Wed Dec 21, 2005 10:08 am

Was it poor yields or did they need a/c somewhere else?

they lost a very valuable Toyota Motors contract to UA...without that, and with the increase in the price of Jet Fuel, they could not sustain that route economically....

From what I heard this was huge stupid mistake on AA some VP or the President himself of Toyota was late on a AA inbound and they would not hold the flight for him so he missed his flight in CHGO. If I was toyota and paying for that flight they better what for me. So without the money from Toyota this flight was not able to make any money. It was a nice way to expand into asia very safe and the blew it.

Why wait? Should 200+ plus pax be affected because one big shot did not make it in time?

Respect other customers is not even something extraordinary, it is basic behavior by an airline. If this is true AA did nothing other than its obligation.

If Toyota subsidizes the flight to the point where it is otherwise not profitable, then AA dam well should wait for the President of the company!

Sounds so Urban legend. I wouldn't think UA would have agreed to incovinience paxs and jeopardize its On Time Performance due to Toyota hot shots arriving whenever they want to. I would think the turn on the contract has to be something different than that
