Stand-by On Air Canada Flights

Tue Dec 27, 2005 4:55 pm

Hello

I'm looking at booking a Tango fare on AC for YYZ-YOW for early Jan. They have many flights every day on this route so I was wondering: if I buy the cheapest flight for late in the day, can I just show up and see if I can be put on earlier flight on stand-by (for free)? Or does this change fall into the category of "$150 change fee for same-day changes at the airport"?

Thanks
Andrew

It doesn't hurt to ask, but officially on the cheap fares there is not longer free standby. The $150 fee gives you a confirmed seat on any earlier flight on the same day as long as there is a seat available.

PlaneLuver,

You won't be allowed to show up for an earlier flight without paying anything, but you have 2 options. You can show up earlier and pay the same-day fee (150CAD plus tx), or you can try changing the itinerary before you go to the airport. You'll pay the 30cad (plus tx) change fee, plus the fare difference. Sometimes, however, this is actually a better option than paying the same-day fee, depending on what fare types are still available.
