The amazing thing is that somebody was stupid enough to finance this.

When I used to live in Vietnam this happened on an old VN Tupolev. It was carrying a large cargo of live snakes from Ho Chi Minh City to somewhere in Southern China. Thing is the snakes got loose and started slithering through the cabin. Due to the petrified passengers the plane made an emergency langing in Hai Phong.

Sounds...interesting! The only reason this movie could possibly make it to the theatres would be because of Samuel Jackson!

Back in the mid to late 1970's, LTU used L-1011's to fly charters to and from Indonesia. A couple of weeks after one of these flights, a passenger with a guilty conscience called in.
It seems that the person collected snakes and had obtain 7 snakes which he or she carried on board in a burlap bag. When the person home, he or she found only 3 snakes.
LTU pulled the airplane out of service and started looking. They couldn't fumigate the airplane because the critters might crawl someplace tricky to reach to die and then stink. After about 2 weeks, LTU located and recovered all of the snakes. They had to disassemble a lot of the interior to complete this hunt.
I went on a trip to the LTU facility in Dusseldorf in 1995 and the folks there told me the story was true.

I was connecting in ATL on a DL flight to SAV from DEN on a 738 just back from Honduras or some South American country and it was delayed due to 2 smuggled poisonous snakes loose in the cabin. It was horrible, 2 1/2 hours later, weather mins. in SAV added another hour delay sitting on the taxiway. Awesome DL flight! (sarcasm)

It's just several weeks ago a LX A320 bound from ZRH to Moscow returned to the gate as a small red snake came out of the pocket of a passenger and disappeared under the seats. Some passengers observed this and for sure informed the crew immediately. The plane was offloaded. As they did not find the snake after a while, another plane was scheduled to Moscow and the flight left with some 2 hours delay.

The passenger - who's pocket the snake came from - was Russia and connected trough ZRH back home, coming from a long range flight. Obviously the snake was in his pocket the whole long range flight...... real nice feeling, having this guy in the same plane, maybe just aside.... Anyhow, he stated that this snake was not poisonous.

The plane was smoked out with a deadly gas the other day as the snake wasn't found.

Cheers

Sounds like a whiz check for the TSA agent who x-rayed that bag...

I got a similar question,

Does rats/mice get spotted in planes?

Animals quite often get into aircaft, the big risk is that they die somewhere remote and stink for weeks.
