I believe Mexico uses a 737-300, Canada a 310 and Japan has a 747-400. For a presidential visit earlier this year the Korean President travel to Costa Rica in a Korean Air 747-400 which cause quite a stir in San Jose.

I'm pretty sure they have two or three. In fact I can recall seeing a picture of two Japan Gov 747s together.

As well as all of the Gulfstreams and the Presidents 747, the US government has four 757 VIPs that are used for the First Lady, Vice Pres, Sec. of State, and some other cabinet members when needed. This is the same with the group of BBJ's that the government has.

I believe FRAspotter is correct in so much as you probably won't find a schematic of the interior..but I don't think the entire interior is a secret. I believe there was a video put out about the time of the 747s were delivered, celebrating all the years of AF1... certain areas were shown/explained.

In addition to other posts, allow me to point out that the White House Press Corps rides in the back of AF1 - hard to keep the layout of the plane classified with a flock of reporters in back.  Wink

But seriously folks - lots of things like this don't *need* to be classified or secret. I'm sure the Fox News Channels junkies will disagree, but lets face it, AF1 is about as secure as your going to get - unless Harrison Ford is elected President - then they can always use that hand dandy fantasy escape pod.  Big grin

While Tango 01 was in Israel because of tech problems in one of the engines (and investigation of what caused the incident) - Mr Kirchner, used two AR 747s to travel. Now, since Tango 01 can't do anymore longhauls, because Boeing recommended not to use the auxiliary fuel tank - these two have become part of the 'available' fleet for the President.

Note the Argentine 'shield' stamped in the planes - they are stamped whenever the President is on board. The callsign is AR1 (Argentina 1).

Hi all

In Australia, our "Air Force One" is a couple of 737BBJ's, primarily one for the Prime Minister, the other the Governor General, and other VIP's where permitted.

In New Zealand, they have a couple of 757's.

New Zealand's is larger than Australia's - who says size matters??

The Bahrain Royal Flight operates :

1 x B747-400
1 x B747-SP
1 x B727
2 x Gulfstream GV
1 x Challenger

They can call on helicopters from Bahrain Defence Force if required and recently sold 2 x RJ85's (maybe to pay for the estimated $61M spent on anti-missile protection on B747-400 which spent 18 months having the VIP interior fitted).

b. National Geo. and Disocvery both have had multiple documentaries about AF1 with onboard filming, interviews with the president and toured the bedrooms/ conference room / etc. they showeed everytig from the gallye to the opeating tabel on board (i have this DVD) its for sale go to you local store.. =) ~ the Nat Geog documentary also talked about the procedure from lockdown at AFB wen the president goes from the white house to the plane aboard marine 1 and then talks about everythign =-) its just amazing the dvd go buy it~ oh yeh and talks about how they clean it and how the crew treat the plane and stuff.. very very thorough definitely go check it out

c. i bought and saw MANY AF1 books picture boosk with multiple interior pitures and like everythign from bedroom of the president to the conference room to the umm... office etc. at the Smithsonian...

As mentioned in Reply 38, Nat'l Geo or Discovery, one of them had this really good one hour documentary on AF1....gives you a very good idea of the interior of the aircraft and the way a typical AF1 flight operates from start to end, plus some clips of older AF1's...

But at the end of the entire documentary, you still get the feeling that only a very limited part of the aircraft is shown at all....the really sensitive parts are not made public....for obvious reasons....
