HP Ship 315-why No Overhead Air Vents?

Sat Dec 31, 2005 3:56 pm

I was on HP 427 on Wednesday, Dec. 28th. Ship 315 was assigned to our flight (PHX-ELP). I noticed it was rather stuffy on board (still at the gate), and when I went to try and turn on the overhead air vents for my wife and myself, I noticed that this ship (a 737-300 series) has none.

Where did HP get ahold of this ship, and why doesn't it have the said air vents? (I know many people say the overhead air vents only create the psychological illusion of moving air, but I would beg to differ on this point!).

We also had a REALLY interesting pushback...we started at gate A5 at PHX, and before the engines were started, the tug had pushed us all the way around the easternmost block of A gates, and in between the eastern and western block of A gates, before the engines were started(!). Did this have anything to do with the flight being 30 minutes late getting out of the gate?

Just curious....

As a cost-cutting measure, they fired the FA whose responsibility it was to climb into the overheads and blow air into the cockpit.. (grin)
It only takes five years to go from rumor to standard operating procedure.
