Will this affect Ethiopian Airlines significantly? They have daily ADD-DXB flights on B757 or B767.

It seems that these ET flights are performing well.

It should be quite interesting to see... ET currently operates 2x daily to Dubai.

This is great, in terms of competition, and would further stimulate traffic between ADD and DXB. DXB is already a popular destination for Ethiopians, and it should also be noted that ET's bulk of pax are those who are connecting at ADD, as opposed to those originating at ADD. You will notice how DXB bound flights are well timed for connections to/from all of ET's African destinations.

Good to see EK in ADD, I'm suprised they havn't already started the flight as ET seems to be doing well (2x daily)  Smile

ET is largely filled with connex traffic. I question if EK will find this a viable market.

Qatar is also coming to ADD sometime in early 2006.

I doubt this will affect ET flights. Majority of the loads on the DXB flights come from other african destinations for ET.

So in the spring, ADD will see several new international carriers. I can think of Emirates, Turkish, Qatar. Already serving ADD are Lufthansa, Kenya Airwyas, KLM, Yemenia, BMed (BA). ET is going to have a tuff time fighting for the local traffic.

I was going to post this since on the Emirates job website they've been hiring about a dozen positions for ADD for at least a couple weeks....but I thought this was already announced.
