Southwest At MDT Yesterday

Sun Jan 01, 2006 1:55 am

I saw a Southwest 737-700 at MDT yesterday. I wasn't sure what it was doing there. My guess was it either was there as a diversion or a charter flight. Or could it have been a special flight bringing VIPs and marketing reps possibly prospecting MDT as a new city? Anybody have an idea or heard about the a/c being there and why it was?

Im not sure that MDT will be an added city anytime soon, the area really isnt big enough, especially with most airlines flying RJ's into MDT.

Southwest At MDT Yesterday

Looks like it came out of Orlando:

Aircraft Boeing 737-700 (twin-jet) [B737/Q]
Origin Orlando Int'l [KMCO]
Destination Harrisburg Int'l [KMDT]
Route MCOY9 SAV J55 CHS J55 FLO J207 RDU GVE AML
EMI
Date Friday, Dec 30, 2005
Duration 1 hour 59 minutes

Also looks like another one came in this morning, so I would say charter. Do you have anything sports related going on involving a Florida team or your teams going to FLA?

Picking up Penn State fans heading to the Orange Bowl, maybe? Just because it came from MCO doesn't mean it came in with pax...may have gone MCO-MDT-FLL-MCO.

I would bet my right arm it was a Penn State charter for the Orange bowl. We had a UA 763 (new colors, by the way) at PIT today running a PSU flight. It was routed PIT-MDT-MIA.
There are no stupid questions....only stupid people!!!

I just found out my in-laws are flying out of MDT to the Miami area tomorrow on a charter flight to see the Orange Bowl. So now, I'm pretty sure that's what the plane was there for......one of many planes I'm sure since so many people will be going down there this weekend. Thanks for looking into that, UPS707!
