AirTahiti Nui JFK Sale

Sun Jan 01, 2006 2:39 pm

Below is a link to an incredible offer being put in place by Air Tahiti Nui to drum up business on flights to/from JFK.

http://www.nyctotahitinonstop.com/packages/stopovers.asp

If what I am reading is right, they are offering people the chance to fly from New York to Tahiti, and Tahiti to Auckland or Sydney. The airfare allows for one free stopover in Tahiti enroute, to or from. Of course hotels are additional. Perhaps, the people for TN have realized they priced theirselves out of the market when they came to JFK, and are now realizing what it takes to fill up the plane.

There's a few rules:

(i) The quoted fare is one way.

"Travel to Tahiti, New Zealand and Australia from $668 one-way including fuel surcharge*

(ii) There's a surcharge of $400 to travel in peak (Christmas) season.

"Travel departing JFK between December 9th and January 19th is at a surcharge of $400."

(iii) The sale finished a month ago - 12/2/05:

"Available for sale to December 2nd, 2005."

Otherwise, it is a pretty good deal.  Smile

cheers

I don't consider this fare such a big deal; it is OW.

On E opinions have read a few bad trip reports about this airline.

What does their biz look like? I would really like to know. My cousin and uncle flew them about 3 or 4 years ago and said something about a bar and yada yada yada, I wish there was some cabin pics on a.net showing the eco and first!

Just got back from JFK using TN. Took advantage of a special launch offer here in Australia a couple of months ago. It was an amazing deal, AUD $1099 plus taxes of around $300 for MEL-JFK return with a stop in PPT on the outward journey. Departed 10th December on a full flight on F-OLOV their new A340-300. Great aircraft, very quiet and the forward facing video to show take-off and landing was a nice touch. Couple of days later flew PPT-JFK on F-OSEA and the load was about 60%, and the IFE system did not work in 90% of the seats. Returned to Australia Dec 29 from JFK-PPT on F-OLOV with about 40% load and then transfered to F-OSEA for PPT-SYD on F-OSEA with about a 50% load. Interestingly, the IFE system on F-OLOV JFK-PPT on the return was working but the movies where all in Japanese or French (obviously this a/c had operated to Tokyo/Osaka and someone had forgotten to change it before it left for JFK). I flew economy and the service was excellent, food pretty good too. All flights left spot on time. Business Class looked pretty good, but no lie flat seats, you have to fly First if you want those on TN. No bars to be seen on either of the aircraft I flew on. Would definitely use them again, I hope the service between Aus and JFK continues although more than 2 flights a week would be appreciated. Can't see TN being that popular with business people with such a low frequency. Not really sure why they get pax to change aircraft and go back through security in PPT on the TN003 flight from JFK-SYD??? does anyone know? Why wouldn't the same aircraft just operate all the way through?? The only advantage of this is that the a/c operating the 2nd leg through to SYD was already loaded and ready to depart when we got into PPT so the transit stop on the ground was about 30-40 minutes.

Kahala777 - It's a strategy and it's targeted at specific consumer groups. That's all I can really say. The agency i work at handles their US advertising.

I hope you're aware that it's NOT because an aircraft is full that it is profitable...
Anyway, since TN surely receives subsidies to foster tourism in Tahiti, it should be a minor problem  Wink
