Structural Reinforcements For The New 787-9

Thu Jan 05, 2006 6:11 am

What were the modifications made to the 787-9 structure to enable the higher MTOW variant that Boeing offered to QF? And how do they compare to modifications for higher MTOW variants of aircraft with convential fuselages? Is it easier to offer fine tuned MTOW variants if one can easily adjust composite fuselage wall thickness?

I believe part of it was just adding some extra layers of "tape" to the fuselage to strengthen it.
