Picture Video, Of My Time At Independence Air...

Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:21 am

I made this picture video, of a few pics I took... while we flew as Independence Air. On the last few pics you see on the video, I'm working the last flight of Independence Air to Chicago, and was the last flight I ever worked. Jan 04, 2006...   I had a blast!

http://www.clipshack.com/Clip.aspx?key=8889D1E09D4B3936

BTW Thanks too all Jetblue employees and management for all the support you are giving us at this time! It shows alot on your behalf! You guys are awesome!

It is a shame that such a nice looking airline has to fold. I wish you all of my best wishes in your continuing career.

The part at the end was particularly moving, especially with the music slowing down at the same time that the west coast routes started to drop off the map.  Sad

Great video, buddy.

I waved out a/c 627 this evening as flight 1743, the last Independence Air flight to leave Columbus. It still hasn't hit me that it's all over. Probably by day 3 or 4, when I'm going bonkers over the fact that I haven't been around jet fuel for over 72 hours, it'll come to me  tongue

Very Nice and Very Sad. I flew Independence and even was offered a job as a FA however shortly after I received a call saying that they were downsizing and that they would no longer need my services.

To all the Independence Air Family, Good Luck!

LuDavid777 - A Special kudos on the video, It was a very nice tribute. Good luck in whatever you have in store as you pursue further offers.

Wonderful video.

I worked the Independence flights during the summer and it was fun while they lasted out west. It was an honor being part of the experience.

I saw some familiar faces in the video and can only wish you all the best!

I will miss Independence Air. Despite only flying them once in August of '04, they became the only airline to successfully make me enjoy riding on a Canadair Regional Jet. Their CRJ's were comfy, nicely done on the inside, and the service was warm and first rate. Its really too bad they couldn't make a go of it, i hope that the DH employees take Jet Blue up on their offer of potential employment/or interviews. The spirit of the employees I encountered on my trip HPN-IAD-HPN would make them assets to any airline.

Good luck to all Fly I people, and may Independence Air rest in peace.....

Great Video Buddy.

I know how you feel. I worked for Valujet in CMH. I remember what it was like when they stopped operations for the FAA grounding. Valujet never came back to CMH. I miss working for them in CMH. It was a lot of fun to work for then.

Well good luck to all the FlyI people who are now not sure what to do.

If I could only have a job like that and not analyze numbers all day. I traveled to IAD three months ago and the only plane I really wanted to see was I-air. Good luck to everyone.

Great picture video Ludavid777. It brings back many memories for me. You captured just a brief glimpse of what FLYi was for all of us.

I moved on a few months ago. I'm now at what most would call a "Major Carrier." It's a job that will hopefully make me much more money with better days off than Independence, but it is nowhere near as much fun nor are the people as enjoyable. I had fun working with all of you and will always remember the experiences. Keep on smiling.

That really sucks!!! I got laid off at U.S AIRWAYS, that morning I'll never forget, i was a mechanic, the images of trucks lined up to load up their toolboxes..... I was in shock the whole way home....... took a few nights to realize that I don't have a job anymore......GOOD LUCK!!! Life moves on!!

Ludavid777,

No one is happy when being sent home like that. You look like a shining star in those planes and obviously you did your work with great passion. I truly hope that some day you'll be able to continue to work in the industry.
A (sad) clip like this also made me realize how fortunate some of us are to still have a job , especially one we like so much. Thanks for that wake up call!
Best of luck!

BTW, What's the song you used??? I like!

Nice video! Its sad, but it gives us what Indy Air was known for. Cheap tickets to go places with a friendly attitude from the staff.

Ludavid777-

Very heartfelt. From one FA to another- I'm so sorry for your loss. You all took great pride in your company and were loyal to each other and your customers until the end. I have great respect for you guys for sticking it out. I really loved your uniforms and even more- your FAs. I've had a few jumpseat on my flights and they were some of the most motivated and passionate people I've met. Hopefully you aren't throwing your wings in just yet- MANY airlines are hiring.

Wishing you all the BEST,

@Ludavid777

Great video, brings tears into my eyes... At least, your management told you before, that they will stop business!

Let me tell you a little site-note. In the past 2 of my employeers went bankrupt, without telling anyone. so we landed at our destination with pax on board and as I was the flight attendant, we had to take care of the pax, because the unpaid ground-services stopped working- and only at this moment i realised, that I had no job, no money, no future...

well, now 5years later I do have a job and as the sun is rising again, the future is bright!!! So, you l@@k very smart and charismatic, keep your head up- I am confident you will make your way!!! BIG HUG from a friend with the same problems!!!! chris

PS: flyI was now flying round about 2years, but hell, how often did they change the uniforms???

Thank you guys for all your comments! On our last flight we did have a blast. We were really sad, but we thought we have two options we can either be sad and cry, or we can have fun like we always have... so we opted for the fun option, and we did have fun! We forgot for a few minutes that it was our last flight. Until we checked our v-files for the last time...

And to answer all your questions:

>Yes I did fly to Charlotte all the time, I was just there for new years... I was actually living there for a while and commuting to work from there.

>NASBWI, of course I remember you, "Mr.A"  Smile

>BTW we always had the same uniform. We just had different options on everything: shirts, sweaters, jackets, etc... part of the idea was they didn't want to have an entire flight crew wearing the same uniform, colors/pieces. So they gave us different options, so the odds of seeing an entire crew wearing the same thing were hard. Although, it happened frequently...

All the best to you, Luis! The sun is shining brightly on the other side!
