On reading the article, it says its used for high ranking military officers.

How very sad indeed, always sad to hear of plane crashes. And the second in two months I see!
It feels so wrong to stare without paying......

Maybe now the USA may consider revising its trade embargo on Iran, and they will be allowed to source spares for their aircraft.

I do not know if the embargo is really the reason for this accident, but it sure does not make things any easier...

Uhm, why would the US allow Iran to source spares for jets used by the Iran's Revolutionary Guards? And why assume that this crash is an accident?

I wasn't trying to start a political row, it was just something I picked up on in a previous discussion when the Iranian Hercules crashed last year.

Just a little bit of ill informed, politically inspired Anti American rhetoric from RICARDOAB??

From the China Daily story....
"The television said the plane was a Falcon jet, which is the preferred aircraft of high-ranking military officers in Iran."

Perhaps the French should sell some spares to the Iranians... or perhaps better yet we should all wait until there is an informed analysis of what actually caused the crash!!

Air-crashes are always sad events and - regardless of political or ethnical preferences - victims should not be subject to cheap rethoric.
If military ,Islamic guards or simple tourists- all dead deserve our respect and thoughts.
Iran does not have a brillant track-record in air-safety -very true- so everything possible should be done to improve those figures .
Europeans and americans had close ties to Tehran several yeras ago and used the regimes in place to fit their own politics .( May I recall that the CIA submitted fake plans for the construction of a nuklear device some years ago -but the errors were immediately detected by the iranians and they could use the "good "part of the plans for their own benefit..)
It is much to early to pronounce any comments on the reasons for the crash- so let's wait and comment once the facts are known...

I jumped straight over from seeing this story on CNN to A.net to look for it because I knew DAMNED WELL someone would start this kind of crap! Sure enough, quite predictable!

And once again, I will say that if the sanctions are causing problems for Iran they should modify the behavior that put the sanctions in place or begin designing and producing their own aircraft so they can stop blaming someone else for their own problems.

Condolences to those that perished and their families.

They're blaming weather at this point. If it isn't weather related, we'll probably never know anyway considering the persons involved.

According to the newsticker of a German newspaper the Falcon ran out of fuel because it could not land at the original destination because of bad weather and did not reach a diversion airport.

Facts are - French build airplane, hence no embargo "victim" and even if it was a Herc, they have enough fuel in Iran, they just have to filll the aircraft up properly.

Anyway, it is amazing how people immediately jump up to the embargo BS, seems like US bashing is the most popular sport worldwide nowadays.

Yes, and thank you for the observation from your perspective.

Unquestionably, criticism is sometimes justified. But unfortunately there are those that view everything that happens with an eye toward how they can blame one person, entity, or country for all of it.

The US is a big target because the US takes action on a lot of issues and those actions are usually high profile- if not because of the action itself then because of the fact that we have a free and open media that will exploit those actions if it can profit from them.

The same applies to "US bashers" here on A.net, too, in that they think they can earn respect from others if their criticism is looked upon as something that others can rally behind. It's the "feeding frenzy" or "rioting crowd" type of effect.

As we're talking about a plane operated by the Iranian airforce, there was also a thread started in the military aviation part of the a.net forum.

Beaucaire speak for yourself. These were "military" personel. Not civilians. Iran denies the holocaust and wants to wipe my country off the face of the earth. That's life / their destiny.

The funny thing is that the military folks were part of the "Jerusalem Brigade". Pathetic.

It's high time that the Iranian regime close all their airports and ground their fleet as flying in Iran is clearly dangerous. They can travel by bus instead. It is irresponsible of the Mullah regime to put their people in constant danger.

And now we will have those bashing the US about the embargo. The US embargo is justified. It was a French plane; not a US one. More evidence that Iranian pilots need more training.

Only a matter of time before this BS was brought up...first of all, you don't even know the aircraft type!

Way to think for yourself. If you had seriously read that thread, you would've known not to bring the embargo up again  Yeah sure

Rest in peace to those on board...

Here we go again... banghead

For those of you who would like to understand more about Iranian history and politics as well as life under the regime I suggest you read the following books.

In the Rose Garden of the Martyrs--A memoir of Iran by Christopher de Bellaigue (a Brit journalist who married a Persian Woman and is now living in Tehran)

Reading Lolita in Tehran--A memoir in Books by Azar Nafisi (former Iranian English literature professor in Shiraz who was exiled by the regime for her teaching of Western lit)

From the authors perspective, Iran in not the rosy place many people make it out to be; however understanding the countries history a bit helps to understand the stance the government takes in world politics today.
