First Wave Of BA Snr Mgmt Reductions....

Mon Jan 09, 2006 9:16 pm

I believe today is when the first (highest) level of BA managers find out their fate.

Has anyone heard which positions/people made the cut and which didn't?

I am in favour of rationalisation. Is this the mere reason as to why they might be going?

From 'the man himself' on BA intranet today:

"Today I have announced the new Commercial Leadership Team appointments and confirmed the new Commercial organisation structure.

I am making a further change to the Commercial organisation, creating two new teams by bringing together UK&I sales and marketing with the two central commercial teams that I announced in December. These two new teams will be responsible not only for leading the commercial strategy and managing global commercial activities, but also for managing our home market.

This new structure will provide clearer accountabilities and enable faster decision making, ensuring strategy is driven by market needs and can be implemented more effectively.

A new team led by Drew Crawley will combine Revenue Management, UK&I Commercial, UK&I Corporate and Agency Sales and Global Account Management.

A new team led by Tiffany Hall will combine Global Sales and Marketing, UK&I Marketing and UK&I direct channels (ba.com, Contact Centres and BA Travel Shops).

Other appointments are:
· Simon Talling-Smith will be Head of Inflight Service
· Robbie Baird will be AGM Middle East, Asia and Pacific
· Pat Gaffey will be AGM Europe and Africa
· Robin Hayes will continue to be AGM Americas
· Iain Burns will be Head of Media Relations
· Gareth Kirkwood will continue to be Managing Director British Airways World Cargo

Joy Hordern, Alan Burnett, Jenny Lourey and Jill Mcdonald have decided to leave British Airways. There will be an appropriate opportunity to wish them every success for the future, but I know that you will join me in thanking them all for their tremendous contributions to our airline over many years.

The senior management structure within these areas will be announced on 23rd January. I know that this is a difficult time for the management community as we go through this process so thank you for your continued commitment and delivery of outstanding results."

It's a hard time for them at the moment, because the new SM jobs, (There will be 1 less SM job in engineering, not sure about the rest) haven't been released, and the GM who's job isn't there, will be able to apply for a SM job.
So more pressure on them AND due to engineering being restrucured, it's all in the unknown,
But thanks Monkeyboi for your support, I'm sure it's people like you who make it worth going in  Smile Keep the good work up.
Just a note to all BA staff, the managers may be ratty and get annoyed , but everythings up in the air at the moment so please give them a easier time( if possible) and hopefully BA will pull up on the other side a better airline.Keep the work up folks
