Cambodia Domestic Flights PNH-REP?

Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:35 am

Hi all

I am going to be in Phnom Penh for a couple of days in mid March and want to fly to Siam Reap, to visit Ankor Wat and also to fly on some Cambodian Airlines.

Could you advise what airlines are currently flying in this country and on this route and with what aircraft. I am interested in flying the more unusual aircraft/airlines.

According to one schedule search, I found the following, which would be of interest. Is this an accurate schedule and if so, what airlines are they and where can I purchase tickets?

17 MAR 06 U4 237 PNH-REP 0735-0820 AN-24
17 MAR 06 RL 756 REP-PNH 1855-1940 Y-7

Are there other interesting options?

Cambodia aviation has been pretty drab. I think President Airlines shut down a while back, not even sure if there are air links between the two cities. I could be wrong though. Take the bus, its cheap and relatively fast given Cambodia's attrocious roads. Should get you there in 4 hours or so. You see some nice scenery and stop at some random places. Definitely go to Angkor, its amazing!

Take the (freight) train to Battambang. No, sorry, I really can't recommend that, but it sure is one unusal journey. And the riverboat ride from Battambang to Siem Reap is quite scenic.

Amen. Even if you think you've seen those Asian temples.

Take care,

According to my 2002 Lonely Planet guide, three airlines then flew the route, including Siem Reap Air with ATR72s. Siem Reap Air is essentially the same as Bangkok Airways and reliable, but not so 'interesting'. The others were President Airlines and Royal Phnom Penh Airways, with a fleet of older Russian planes. There are up to six flights a day between PP and SR and it is usually possible to get on a flight at short notice.

This is not the kind of airline I'd like to pay in advance, anyway. Just go to the airport when you're there.

Nice timing, I just reserved my REP-PNH flight yesterday!

I did it through www.bangkokair.com. Some of the flights are on Siem Reap Airways International and some on Bangkok Airways. B717s, A320s and ATR72s on that route.

I reserved BKK-REP-PNH-BKK which wasn't much more expensive than BKK-REP-BKK or BKK-PNH-BKK.
