Air Namibia A340-300 - Where From?

Fri Jan 13, 2006 8:55 pm

I see Air Namibia is going to replace the MD 11 with t he A340-300 on the

Windhoek - London Gatwick route. they have some amazing specials at the moment.

Does anyone know who they are going to be leasing/buying this plane from? What the config/seats will be like?

Thanks very much

When I flew on it in 1997! Still my only A340 flight ever.  Sad

I just flew the A340 2 weeks ago from FRA to WDH. 44 C-class seats and the rest is Y-class. the business seats are the same as LH (old) & (current) LX A330 Seats, which are really nice and I had a wonderful 7 hours sleep in them  Smile
just ask if you want more info....

Did you by any chance do a trip report? Air Namibia trip reports are very rare, so it would certainly be appreciated.  Smile

As a sidenote, V5-NMC used to be HB-IWR with SR and was a former LT MD-11 registered as D-AERB (my favourite of all MD-11s).  Smile

Farewell, D-AERB! I certainly miss flying on you.  Sad See you when you're with UPS.

ChrisZRH -

Yeah a report or even just some pics would be awesome.

Their J class fares to Africa are the cheapest and if youre getting the old LH C class seats - thats good enough for me. Other option is Iberia which seems cheap too, and I know theyre in the process of installing new lie flat seats in J!!

it's true the Business fares are very cheap compared to other carriers... at the check-in counter you could upgrade yourself for 350 euros and i mean you sleep nearly the entire way. the major difference is in service: food is good but not special and also the attention of the FA's and just the general feeling in the cabin is surely not the same. Lot of Y-class pax use the C-class toilets, what leads to a quite a big queue, what is very disturbing. but all you want is the BED  Smile
