Air Tahiti Nui launches the fastest way to travel from New Zealand to New York on 26 March 2006.
In just 18 hours and 15 minutes, with a short transit in Papeete, you can be in a yellow cab heading for the Empire State Building. The east coast of the United States and even the Caribbean is now an easy hop for kiwis who no longer have to leap-frog over California.
The new service means customers can stopover for a dip in the crystal clear ocean of Tahiti and her islands only if they choose to. Air Tahiti Nui has changed its schedule to allow direct flights to New York instead of the current 24-hour lay over.
Three flights per week from Auckland will depart on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and return Mondays and Wednesdays in just over 20 hours.
Airbus A340-300 are the most comfortable aircraft in the skies. Each customer has a personal video screen and Air Tahiti Nui's understated and attentive cabin service has been a major factor in winning three consecutive accolades as Best Pacific Carrier in the annual Skytrax Awards.
