Question for You Guys and Gals

Sat Feb 13, 1999 10:51 am

Suppose you where told to start a regional airline
anywhere in the world with the finacial backing of
Bill Gates. What Regional aircraft would you choose
and why?

I would choose the Emb 145 as my RJ because the
fuel flow and maitinence is no problem for this plane.
In other words it's economical! $$$$

I would get a couple.
I would based out of LHR with
B717
EMB.145
EMB.120
BAe146
Jetstream 31
Islanders
Cessna 206
And Bill Gate would still have billions left over. If he saw a $100 dollar bill it would not be worth the time to pick it up for him. After my Airline it might be!!

I would use the ERJ series, the Do328JET, and the MD-95, with a hub in GSO.

G'day..
Depends what airports l was operate out of would be my first question l'd ask myself. lf if was to be tight short strips that l would be opertaing out of, l'd go for the Dash 8. lf it was long pathed strips l'd go for the Emb 145, or the new Saab 2000. "l don't know too much about the new Saab 2000 though."
See yah...

Air Marshell Islands fly's one along with
Crossier (sp?) in Europe. I would take
it for a short strip rwy!

Hey Will,
They discontinued it a few years ago.
1997 I think. Not enough orders and not
enough financial backing. I know that they
made military type 2000 also. Saab 340 is
a sweet ac! I would love to fly that bird!

I've heard that Saab 2000 production is winding down (there are a few more left to build), and that Saab 340 production has already ceased. This comes as a result of Saab's decision to get out of the airplane business.

This doesn't really come as a suprise to me. They likely had a lot riding on the success of the Saab 2000, but was beat out by the same-size Canadair and Embraer Regional Jets.

Saab getting out of the airplane business!?! What about their military line, such as the JAS39 Gripen? What will happen to those?
