Usex Dash-8 Aborted Takeoff At PHL.

Tue Jan 17, 2006 6:20 am

Just saw this story on my local news and it said pilot aborted t/o for engine warning light and showed pax returning to terminal in bus. Does anyone have anymore info?

It's called USAirways Express, and some commonly accepted acronyms are US-X, US-Ex, and US-Express. "Usex" sounds like some kind of pornography vendor.

Was this the flight on Sunday? I believe it was a flight to BWI and had an engine failure during the flight, not on the takeoff. It returned to PHL. I am not sure about this, so any confirmation out there?

Well the story was on this mornings news and the video appeared to be dusk. What time is the BWI flight.

Umm, I think I read where it landed in PHL at around 5. But I just glanced it, so I am not sure.

From the web-link article:
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/13635579.htm

Flight 4455, a twin-engine turboprop, declared an emergency about 20 minutes after taking off from the Philadelphia airport bound for Baltimore-Washington International Airport, US Airways spokesman Carlo Bertolini said.

20 minutes from PHL... I'm surprised BWI wasn't closer already. Although I guess if its a negligible time difference, go back to PHL to the home (and maintenance?) base.

Yeah, actually I was on Air Wisconsin 3971 PHL-DTW when that happened. It was taxiing when saw several fire/rescue vehicles racing the other way with lights and sirens. I'm glad everything turned out alright. I fly these DH8's to SBY all the time.

What a load of BS. Though I suppose that someone who can't spell 'original' or 'didn't' shouldn't be expected to know that writing Usex makes it a word, not an acronym.

Mr. Self-appointed A.net god of spelling.

Now, if the cat was chasing the dog...that would be news.

At least someone saw the humor in it, thanks Aogdesk. Needed something to make a reason to post on this thread, otherwise it was just a boring typical everyday occurance.
