How Many " Sleeping " A330-200 Around?

Fri Jan 20, 2006 4:48 pm

Hi!

Just want to confirm that TAP is infact "very interested" on the 3 BlueWings A330-200's! But my question would be, are there any other stored A330-200's around?
Regards

I wouldn't believe so. SAS tried to find someone 2 years ago for the OSL-EWR route, but they could not find any. I don't know if they only tried looking up Trent versions of the A330-200

Whether or not you'd class it as 'stored' is questionable, but the only other A330-200 that hasn't been operational in a while (correct me if I'm wrong here) is A7-HHM (c/n 605), one of the Qatar Amiri Flight aircraft. I believe this has been parked at Hamburg since August 2004.

Hope this helps.

Yup, there are only these three A330-200s and no A330-300s available.

So I presume thats owned by that govt? Why is it inactive, is it being fitted in VIP config?

As far as I'm aware, the aircraft is owned by Qatar Airways, but operated on behalf of the government, so it's quite possible that the aircraft is being converted into VIP config at HAM.

Correct.

They also operate 1x A310-300, 1x A319CJ, 1x A320, 2x A330-200, along with a Challenger and a GlobEx.
